Digital Revolution in Health Care

How the digital revolution will create better health care? Mobile wireless digital devices, including smartphones and tablets with seemingly limitless functionality, have brought about radical changes in our lives, providing hyper-connectivity to social networks and cloud computing. But the digital world has hardly pierced the medical cocoon. The most precious part of our existence-our health-has been insulated from this digital revolution. How could this be? Medicine is remarkably conservative. That is about to change.     We will be soon checking our vital signs on our phone. What if your cell phone could detect cancer cells circulating in your blood or warn you of an imminent heart attack? According to Eric Topol, practicing cardiologist and leading voice on the digital revolution in medicine, innovative technology will improve patients outcome and lowers cost. "Digital medicine"refers to the ability to digitize human beings, by a variety of means (sequencing, wireless sensors, imaging and health information). It is about being able to remotely and continuously monitor each heart rhythm, moment-to-moment blood pressure readings, the rate and depth of breathing, body temperature, oxygen concentration in the blood, glucose, brain waves while we sleep-all the things that makes us tick. He talks to Dr. Nancy Snyderman about how technology can capture all the relevant data from each individual to enable precision therapy, prevent major side effects of medications. And yet many of these digital medical innovations lie unused because of the medical community's profound resistance to change.
In his book The Creative Destruction of Medicine, Eric Topol argues that radical innovation and true democratization of medical care are within reach, but only if we as informed consumers will demand it. We can force medicine to undergo its biggest shakeup in history.

Q: What “home runs” have you seen in digital health that exemplify the future?
There are already a few but let me just describe the impact of one. I believe the portable high-resolution ultrasound (Vscan or Mobisante) represents a home run to replace the stethoscope for heart, abdominal and fetal examinations. We validated the Vscan compared with the standard hospital lab echo-cardiogram (Annals Internal Medicine, 2011). To have such high quality imaging done anywhere “flattens the earth” –not just all over the planet, but from a paramedic in the field or an emergency room doctor—to simply acquire the image and transmit the video loop to a radiologist or cardiologist expert with a rapid read and text back.
Q:What are some “bold and aggressive” predictions that will catch our readers off guard? 
I believe that DNA sequencing and other omics (RNAseq, microbiome, epigenomics, metabolomics) will be used up front for most cancers, serious difficult to diagnose conditions, and as the mainstay for new drug development. Perhaps one of the biggest will be embedded nanosensors, in our bloodstream, that put our bodies under constant surveillance and prevent particular conditions such as autoimmune, cancer, or heart attacks—by capturing a specific bio-signal and transmitting that to the smartphone. It’s a little ways off, but might be especially transformative. It brings a lot of digital medicine together and exemplifies what all this technology can achieve.
Dr. Eric Topol participates in the opening keynote address for the January 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Over 150,000 consumers, techies, international corporations and delegates were part of the largest convention held in the city. His presentation opened my eyes to the possibilities in front of us within the next 5 years. Technology will create "smart medical homes" and can help monitor health for aging Americans. Why we all should listen to him?
Eric J. Topol, MD is an American cardiologist, professor of genomics, and a leading voice on the digital revolution in medicine. He is the chief academic officer of Scripps Health and co-founder of the West Wireless Health Institute in La Jolla,  California. He was named Doctor of the Decade for being one of the top 10 most cited medical researchers. Eric Topol was selected as one of the 12 "Rock Stars of Science" by GQ and the Geoffrey Beene Foundation in 2009. Today he is the most influential physician executive in United States.

Content is a new currency

At recent webinar Marie Forleo revealed that an estimated 3 billion more people will be online by the year 2020. More than 80% of people will go online to review a product before purchasing it. There are review sites, blogs and forums, to name a few. If your product or service is not online then you are at risk of losing out on potential sales and new customers.

It's not necessarily about doing more, it's about being smart. Having a good content in any form and published on the Internet can be worth a lot. It may not be in monetary terms all the time, but it is worth money in the end.
Basically you need to provide some valuable information or entertainment- content- that stops short of a direct sales pitch or call to action. This information can be presented in a variety of media, including news, eNewsletters, articles, white papers, infographics, case studies, how-to's, or Q & A's, games, etc... Share pictures , videos, podcast, e-books, even stories using the main platforms for business like Google+, Yelp, Youtube, Pinterest and Pixable.  You don't need to do them all, begin with couple and grow into the rest. According to a study by the Content Marketing Institute, over 90% of Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) marketers use one or more methods of Content Marketing on a company website. 
So you have to find creative ways for your readers to consume the information. In other words, you need to find out how best to reach or communicate with your target audience. Clearly the intent is to attract an audience to the content. Content is king, as they say. Spend a good deal of time mapping out exactly what you want to say. Content is the foundation of your website or blog becoming successful. If you want people to visit your site there has to be a reason why.

Top Keys to Fire Up Your Blogging Audience

Once you decide to bring your business online, there are certain things that you need to be doing to be effective in your new venture. Simply creating a website or blog, putting it live on the web, writing a few articles and thinking that it all that you need to have success is being delusional. There is much, much more that you need to learn and implement. Blog, baby, blog. Absolutely Blog! You need to promote Yourself and not your company or your affiliates. Share your brand and market to your niche, your audience by...
Stand Out! The old saying that "if you are not standing out, you are blending in!" is still true.

 You want to be different, so begin by thinking outside the box. How  can you present your service and/ or products differently from your competitors? What sets you apart from others? Promote! Period. Show your audience that you are an expert in your field by blogging articles. Blog is a great places where you can share your knowledge. Share on other platforms, all over the web. Get yourself out there; if you are incognito, how do you suppose your prospective clients are going to find you? All your interactions over the internet should ALWAYS be leading your audience back to your blog - your store. That is your business area. On social sites, you build relationships, share bits of your knowledge and information. At your store, you do business. On your blog you could share an article, then comment on it. Be Active! 
Post regularly, viewers look at your contest; then they check out post dates. Write at least 300-500 words for each article. Let me say that blogging is kinda as effective as using advertising! Really... you use your content to tweet, post, promote! It is advertising. I really encourage you to blog; there's no better way to establish yourself as an authority in your field. 
Don't be afraid to show your products & services. This is where you put who you are on display for the world to see. Visit other sites that relate to you: like and comment, leave a link to your site and you will get more visitors. It will also improve your ranking, and boost your SEO/ Search Engine Optimization.    

Keywords - the important Words, Always keep watch over the keywords you are using. This is very important as it helps Search Engines like Bing, Google and Yahoo to find you. Find others in your niche and exchange posts.Your guest bloggers have followers too; they will be reading your article and your followers will be reading theirs. You promote them, they promote you. It's win-win situation and you increase your visibility. Cool!

How to Create An Impression as a Blogger?

If you're a beginning blogger, you might have fewer regular readers, and most of them are your friends and family. And let's face it, have you ever thought that why few bloggers and their blogs are so much popular than yours? Why they have many visitors, subscribers and readership? Why they get a slew of tweets, shares and pins for their posts? And how they have achieved these milestones? I've personally asked these questions to people who are actively working on content writing, blogging and online marketing.
Almost everyone answered the same way: their contents are unique and interesting, they write about different topics every time which people are actually looking for, they market their contents very well through social media channels and optimize their blogs well which bring them the results.
Install Google Analytics, and look at the average amount of time visitors are staying on your website. For most traffic sources, anything less than two minutes is bad. If you are at less than one minute, then your content is repelling people. You can do better.
People don't come to your blog to find out what you think. They come for solutions to their problems. The moment you stop talking about them is the moment they stop reading. Great writing is about intimacy. Find out what makes your readers excited, what's going through their minds and keeps them up at night. Then use it in your blog posts. You'll be communicating with them on such a deep, emotional level that it will be impossible for them to ignore you.
It's all about the "IMPRESSION" you create in front of your readers or visitors, that eventually takes you to the pinnacle. Tell me friends, which is just that One Thing that any business owner would want to make in front of his clients and customers? Well it's the "IMPRESSION" that everyone wants to create on  others; it's the SOUL of the blogging to gain popularity and success on the web world. Now how to create that impression as blogger or writer? It's not so difficult my friends. If they can, then you can as well. You just need to think a bit more, research and plan about more. Believe in yourself and remember that we all blessed with qualities, but only need to brush them up and make it glow more!!

Pinterest is taking over the social media like a tsunami.

Pinterest is a social network that gained a lot of traction recently. The general idea of Pinterest is to create a board, name it and then "pin" pictures to the board. Each picture you "pin" can have a corresponding link. You can also pin videos. Pinning pictures on particular topics tends to attract people interested in some niche and users have ability to follow (and unfollow) each other in a similar fashion to Twitter.
Believe it or not, images can be a large traffic source for blogs and it doesn't surprise me that Pinterest has been designed to capitalize on the premise (of course taking the idea much further).
As far as growth goes, Pinterest is smoking hot. It is the fastest site to reach 10 million unique monthly visitors in history. When it comes to making money with Pinterest, it's really a matter of creating boards that attract people and then posting pins that people want to click and having some type of connecting offer or lead capture page on the other end.

What Is A Blog?

I am asked every week via emails, conversation and Instant Messaging chats to define: "what is a blog". If you’re reading this you may well be asking the same question. Here are a few definitions from other much wiser people to get us started:
 "A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent post or entry."
 A blog is a type of website. Blogs are often written on a particular topic-there are blogs on virtually any topic you think of. From photography, to spirituality, to recipes, to personal diaries to hobbies-blogging has as many applications and varieties as you can imagine. Whole blog communities have sprung up around some  of these topics putting people into contact with each other in relationships where they can learn, share ideas, make friends with and even do business with people with similar interests from around the world.
Blogs usually have a few features that are useful to know about. Lets examine a couple briefly.
Archives-You might look at the front page of a blog and think that there is not much to them. A few recent entries, some links to other sites and not much else. However its worth knowing that there is a lot more going on under the surface that might initially meet the eye. For example, at the time of writing this post there are over 520 other pages or posts below the surface that I've written over the past few months. It sounds like a dusty dark place but its really just like a filing cabinet that is easily accessible in a couple of ways. You can read my "archives" simply by looking on the "sidebar" (over on the right of this blog) at the "Blog Archive". There you will see links to all my old posts which you can access.

Comments-Not all blogs use comments-but most do. This blog is not a monologue but a conversation. You can give me feedback on almost everything I write simply by clicking the "comments" link at the bottom of each one of my posts. This will take you to a little form where you leave your name,your email and comment, critique, question,... etc. Try it now. Scroll to the bottom of this page, click "comments" and fill in the blanks with a little introduction to yourself.
A great way to learn about blogs is to read a few. And even better way to learn about blogs is to start your own. OK-you might be laughing at me now-you think you are not web savvy enough to know where to start? You don't know how?
My Secret-Let me share a secret with you-three years ago I knew nothing about blogs, I had never used the Internet for anything more than email, surfing and chatting to friends. But one day I discovered a blog and after surfing from one to another for a few hours I was hooked and wanted to start my own. I found that there are free blog services that almost anyone could set up in a matter of minutes. Really it is that simple. Literally millions of people blog from around the world. Its not just something for young people, or geeks, or cool folk-instead its something virtually anyone with access to a computer and the Internet can start up.
If you'd like to start a blog, Darren Rowse has written a book --ProBlogger the Book- which is specifically written for new bloggers. How about 'sticky blogs'? Do you know what they mean? I did not know prior to reading the book. Darren is the most respected professional blogger in the world. He's got over 321,000 subscribers to his blog about blogging, the largest readership of any blog in our industry. He's a true pioneer and as anyone who has met the guy knows, he's very humble.
